Houston Zoological Gardens

Houston Zoological Gardens is home to over 4,500 animals and unlike other zoos, this zoological garden is quite small but its environment is just enough for everyone to enjoy and appreciate. The animals are housed in meticulously designed ecosystems arranged along the shaded tracks where children can enjoy watching them from the trails. The zoo allows visitors to feed and interact with the animals as well as visit the tree houses in the Wortham World of Primates.

If you want to have fun, get into their climate-controlled Wildlife Carousel just by the Children’s Zoo. Enjoy the time away from the sun and take some time with your children. This 50 acre zoo promotes education especially for children in terms of animal life and environment as they have a center for education section. The zoo mainly features a well designed gorilla habitat, a large aquarium, a carefully designed cat facility and the exotic vampire bats.

The zoo is located within the Hermann Park, Museum District, Houston, Texas. The Brown Education Center is open daily from ten in the morning until six in the evening. During specific holidays like Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, the zoo is free for everyone.
