Visiting the Texas Seaport Museum would definitely be a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone in the family. This maritime museum is one of the premiere destinations in Galveston and is visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. It has also been designated as one of America’s Treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.


The Texas Seaport Museum holds various events and exhibits. You can watch the 17-minute award –winning documentary ‘Passage to Galveston: The Story of Elissa’ which tells abou the story of Elissa’s discovery, purchase and restoration. Another exhibit in the museum is the ‘1937 Shrimp Boat Santa Maria: Gold from the Gulf Exhibit’ featuring the history, industry and ecology of Gulf Coast shrimping. The ‘Galveston’s the Elissa: Tall Ship of Texas’ is another crowd-favorite exhibit where you can find photographs about Elissa’s history and early voyages to the present. You can also explore the decks of the celebrated 1877 tall ship Elissa. The ship also provides a romantic, outdoor setting which is perfect for weddings and receptions. You can actually rent the ship for special occasions and other social functions.

Visit Texas Seaport Museum located at Pier 21, Number 8, Galveston, Texas. They are open daily from 10am to 5pm. Last ticket is sold at exactly 4:30pm. Admission fee is $8 for adults, $5 for students and is free for children age 5 and under. Group tours can avail of discounts.
